Imagine walking into a banquet hall. Instead of the standard tables, each one identical with the same linens and silver, you’re greeted by a riot of colour and laughter. On your left is the scrapbooking table, on the right is the race car table, and in front is your table – the slumber party. You’re not wearing your typical formal wear. No. Tonight you are sporting your best flannel pj’s and are on your way to a slumber party, complete with Teen Beat magazines and fuzzy slippers. And you laugh as you think that there must be a really good reason for this.

There is.

The Grand Dessert Night is held each year in support of the Canadian Cancer Society. With locations throughout Ontario, Laurie organizes York Region’s Night. Held at the Roman Palace in Newmarket, the Grand Dessert night is one of the Region’s largest fundraising events every year and supports the Society’s leading-edge cancer research and support programs for those living with cancer in our community.

In 2008 we raised over $25,000 and this year we’re looking to raise even more. Will you join us?

How Does The Grand Dessert Night Work?

This innovative fundraiser creates a variety of ‘theme’ tables that compete for prizes such as Most Fun Table, Most Creative Table, Most Unusual Table and more. A Host or Hostess purchases a table for eight and then invites 7 other people to join them for the night. You can treat your friends to a night out or ask them to contribute to the cost. Everyone will receive a charitable receipt.

The Host or Hostess then decorates their table according to their theme and supplies desserts for the members of their table. It’s like hosting your own pyjama party or murder mystery – along with the other Hosts and Hostesses at the event.

The evening is filled with entertainment, laughter and warmth as we help out a great cause.
